Post-DNC, Let’s Revisit Seth Meyers Explaining to ‘Bernie or Bust’ People That ‘Bust Won’
ome late-night clips are really poignant. They stick with a viewer for a long time. A great
example of this is John Oliver‘s segmenton Donald Trump. Since so many people are still calling the Republican nominee “Drumpf,” it looks like Oliver’s segment had its intended effect.
Earlier this week, Seth Meyers pre-released a bit from his show on Twitter and it, like Oliver’s infamous take-down, is worth a revisit:
He took aim at the Bernie Sanders fans who insisted on booing andfussing throughout this year’s Democratic National Convention as Hillary Clinton was nominated as the official Democratic presidential candidate. He explained that with a Trump presidency looming, “we don’t have time for this.”
He delivered a number of fast-paced quips, including, “The house is on fire; stop crying because we’re not putting it out with your hose,” and, “I know you’re Bernie or Bust, but the results are in: Bust won.”
Ultimately, his point was simply that to continue freaking out over Sanders’ failure to secure the nomination is to propel Trump into the presidency, where “Trump gets all the gravy.” Watch above.
